Just a quick note…still seeing five inch flues appearing on wood burning stoves throughout Scotland…oft installed by “Highgly qualified” “HETAS” engineers…… who seem to believe that Scotland doesnt have its own building regulations….quick recap of section 3.20.8… for appliances up to 30kw burning any fuel…… 150mm diameter or rectangular/square flues having the same cross sectional area and a minimum dimension not less

Wood Burning Stoves New Rules

By Eoin
Mar 23rd, 2019

There has been a lot of adverse press recently with regard to the influence of wood burning on air quality, and as a consequence a lot of nonsense talked about new rules for woodburning. Customers have told me they are concerned that wood burning stoves may be banned, recalled, or not even sold! OMG! Bit of clarity required, me thinks!

At the moment, stoves sold throughout Europe (Including the UK) must be at least 65% efficient. At the latter end of 2015 we were contacted by Rob Branter from the Scottish Charity Venture Scotland.  He was looking for prices for a replacement stove for the Bothy in Glen Etive. The charity uses the Bothy to give young people a taste of adventure in the great Scottish wilderness places.     The amount of money the group
